HOW did the idea for Flourish originate?
The idea for Flourish grew in a response to a set of personal experiences that unfolded between 2011-2017, while earning a B.A. in Integrative Studies at Salem College as a non-traditional (adult) student.
WHAT sparked the idea for Flourish?
A 2015 study by Raj Chetty and Nathaniel Hendren ranked Forsyth Co., NC as the 3rd worst U.S. county for [childhood] Poverty Mobility.Â
Flourish is a Community-Building Initiative  Flourish centers around a community of people from diverse cultural and financial backgrounds who meet weekly to:​​ ​ Support female head of households in Forsyth County, NC, who are living in financial insecurity as they transition to financial stability ​​ Establish mutual relationships ​​ Increase levels of whole-person wellness ​​​ ​ ​ ​

Our core community provides support and resources for female heads of households and their children during the most critical phase of journeys from poverty to financial stability. We co-collaborate with community resource providers, civic organizations, faith-based groups, individuals, and businesses to provide these essential resources.
